Young females are much more vulnerable to STDs than women who are older adults. This is due to two main reasons:

Brain Development

The prefrontal area of the brain that deals with decision-making, judgement, and planning is still under development in teens (both male and female)...some say into the 20's and even early 30's. This can lead to more rash decision-making and greater risk-taking.

 

Cervix

The cells of the cervix are much more fragile and in danger of infection, and also more easily transformed into precancerous cells.
